Caught Up..

Apologies in advance for the picture heavy blog post, but I've caught up on my project life!!

Firstly we have the beginning of February:

I've included an actually copy of one of the invites I've made for my brother in an extra page protector cut down to fit.

The end of Jan has been completed and journalling filled in, some of these photos have been pinched from the kids or Facebook as I didn't decide until the end of March to even start this year. I've also got a new label printer, which is working wonders to add a snippet of information.

Some little foam letters from Hobbycraft work well too when I don't have a lot to say but want to include some of those day to day life pictures. I've also dragged the kids into it all and have them journalling a few times.

One of the tickets from our trip to The Lion King worked great on this layout - that or it would have been stuck in a drawer somewhere for the rest of it's days.

On this layout I've even put in a screen shot of something that was going around Facebook a while ago as it made me smile - it's so true for my kids.

This double spread is still using photos taken by all of us this year so sometimes an event or day takes up a whole page. I've also included a tag on a pretty parcel I got that month as it put a smile on my face.

This page sees a ticket from the girls concert and their views on it written down as well as a letter Carys got from school saying how well she was doing.

April begins here, I've decided not to follow a strict week by week view on this album, partly because I started it late and didn't have the pictures to start that way, but also because I find this is less pressure until I get in a rhythm.
Hense the reason I also don't embellish much, just get it in there... My creative streak will be saved for 12x12 layouts to go into the childrens albums.

Screen shots of flights booked for my brothers wedding in Australia had to make it to this page along with FaceTime with family...after all those are the little and big things.

This is where I started taking pictures with Project Life in mind, there is a screen shot of the news of Margaret Thatchers death (no journalling required, just documenting a big event), I also got my son to stand still for a minute while I got a snapshot of his one sock on, one sock off approach to home life.

I've included a text conversation in this layout, to compliment the story, also screen shots of an App my son helped to create. I like these different ways to show things in our lives. (how long will it be until that view of texts look ancient?)

I even took a shot of the shop I work in before we opened as I thought I should document where I spend a lot of my time.

You may notice that I'm also journalling - A LOT. More than I think I've ever done in all of my albums combined. It seems easier in this album for some reason, maybe because miss match hodge podge is the idea - and with that my handwriting fits. lol

It was hard to only choose a couple of photos from a family meal out, but I've got to remember that the rest will have their own place too.

In this last page you can see a few more of my 'take that picture for project life' examples (I mean how often do you take a picture of your dishes?) I also took a picture of Kate's daisy chain with a lot of space to one side so I could do some label journalling but then I found a cool iPhone app called OPEN which allowed me to put text straight onto the photo before I printed it out - I think I'm in love!
It wouldn't surprise me if you see a lot more text printed onto photos.

If you got to the end - thank you for visiting.

Project Life..

Quick one with my project life update. These are the pages that I've completed so far in my 2013 album. These are catch up as I only decided to do project life this year about 2 weeks ago, so I've just used photos I have. Hubby took my hint and got me a lovely Selphy for my birthday so now I can print my project life photos at home and keep up to date. The darling that he is (and he can't keep secrets/wrap presents) he let me have it last night while I'm off work at the moment and crafting.

This little machine is fantastic, quick and easy to print from my phone. I did have to do an emergency trip to Argos for some ink/paper as it didn't come with any, but I'm sure I'll keep stocked up from now on (with Amazon prices).

I've now done my journalling etc on these layouts. I may embellish a few bits at some point, but then again I may not. Either way it doesn't matter. :-)

Only a few more pages to do and I'll be on time. I don't think I've written so much on anything but when it's quick updates it's easier. I've even got the kids putting there view (and handwriting) on future pages and hope they do more throughout the year.

Right off now to do some crafting and not blogging about it. Hehe

Sugar paper - URGH!!

Well it was sugar paper scrapbook dissecting today again. This time in the form of Kate's nursery album. This one contained a lot of pictures taken by nursery and a few pieces of artwork, which was great as I got to use some of the page protectors with 4" squares.

The pictures peeled of easily, probably due to the time that has passed since it was created.

I included a pasta necklace that was in the book by putting it in a 6x4 slot and sealing it with washi tape. I didn't put any backing on though so it can be seen from both sides and adds some variety.

I love the way the pages look, and the variety of sizes that I've managed to use. They've all been slotted in within layouts and time moves onto the reception folder. I think I'll be back scanning with this one as there are a lot of A4 sheets of work and it will just become a standard A4 binder if I included them all full size.

Blog post to follow with my project life so far....as my darling hubby has bought me a new toy for my birthday and let me have it early while I have a couple of days off.

Still working away...

I'm still working away at my albums. I've got quite a few on the go, with the kids individual albums as well as my sisters wedding album (still a work in progress but getting there fast), Australia and my new project life!

Firstly Australia:

I've done my latest trip in a 'project life style' using some Kaisercraft paper I bought while out there. It's organised and journalling etc will be added soon. As I still have photos in a drawer from my first trip out there in 2002 (I think) it will be the quickest trip organised even if it was a year ago. Here are a couple of pics, starting with the title page.

Then we have a couple from our afternoon tea.

Bondi beach comes next, here I do have an additional American crafts page protector in as I took quite a few photos.

My day out in Melbourne, again with an additional 'smaller than 12x12' page protector to fit in all those photos and provide some variety.

I do have lots more pages in the album of course, and the photos I'm afraid are poor as I took them under the lamp, but it gives you an idea.

I was going to wait and start a project life album in 2014 but I realised I was missing things now....so I've started. Nothing like having loads of different projects on the go at once hey! Here is a snippet of the organisation.

The first page has been done as the suggestion in the core kit and for now it will stay that way, I may embellish the pages at some point, but for now I'm glad it's there.

Biggest event this year comes first....my GORGEOUS nephews arrival. :D

Then we have a variety, birthdays, concerts and other snippets of life....all dependant on what I'd photographed. I've not worried about getting each week so far this year but I'm hoping going on from now I can get them done at a page or 2 a week.

Most of the photos are now in the correct order, I need to print out a couple more I've nabbed from the kids phones and journal the events, but  it's getting there. The kids have said they'll write about events they've been to also, so thats a good way to preserve there handwriting and make it a family affair.

The last picture is of my book case now, as you can imagine it's gained a few more albums....

I'll try to get some more of the kids album pictures up soon as I've had a few questions over them, but I do need daylight for that and I am a night owl. Maybe on my next mammoth session I'll get some, as I still need to dissect Kate's nursery sugar scrapbook *shudder*
